Hey friends!
Aside from the nasty head cold that decided to visit me Friday evening, this has been quite the marvelous week and weekend! Lets hope the cold doesn’t stick around too long.
I mentioned quite some time ago that Kelly decided she wanted to participate in the talent show at her school. She signed up to sing one of her favorite John Mayer songs, Waiting on the World to Change.
Her big day was this past Thursday. Guys………. I was so nervous, excited, scared for her it wasn’t even funny!! She was the very last act of the evening, and I knew she was nervous when we could see her little feet pacing back and forth underneath the curtain. Needless to say, we had our fingers crossed all would go well. And it did 🙂 I can’t believe I didn’t cry. But it’s true. Even still, my heart was gushing. 🙂 Good for her!! I would’ve never had the nerve, or talent, to song in front of my peers at that age. With confidence she can only get even better…
The House
This week was a big one on the home front as well. We went to see the slab of stone we’re using for our kitchen counter tops. We weren’t sure what to expect, but we absolutely LOVED it. The kitchen installation is being finished today, and around the end of next week we’ll have a full working kitchen!!
Alfie is starting the hardwood floors this week as well.
Before we know it, we’ll be moving in. We’re guestimating that within two months we’ll have our occupancy permit. The project will be far from done, but at least we’ll be living there while we work on it.
Believe it or not, I’m not enjoying the whole furniture picking aspect of things. There’s so many different types, quality levels, sizes, styles to choose from it’s insane. And I’m not about to pay a decorator to do it for me. We figure we’ll start with bare minimum and pick up pieces when they “strike our fancy”.
Running
We had a break in the weather! I was finally able to get out for my inauguaral run of the season on Friday (thankfully before this head cold took over completely).
I felt good to be back in the saddle! And so far I like my new Brooks running shoes. I think I need to work on the tightness of the lacing because my one foot started to fall asleep around mile 2. I think I just had them tied too tight.
All in all, they were supportive and light. Time and increasing mileage will tell me if I picked the right shoe.
